About Us

In our communities, we witness domestic violence, hear about sexual abuse, and see a growing number of girls becoming teenage mothers. Poverty and desperation often push young people into prostitution, drug addiction, and crime. Some, overwhelmed by life’s challenges, have tragically taken their own lives. Many surviving teenage mothers wish to return to school, be forgiven, accepted, mentored, or supported in simple ways.

Benter Teenage Mothers’ Community-Based Organization (CBO) was founded out of the desire of a young Catholic priest to give back to his community. Having been born to a teenage mother, raised in poverty, and educated against the odds, this priest began mobilizing resources to support teenage mothers after his ordination. His initiative attracted the support of a Catholic religious nun, his family members, and others who shared his vision. Due to the increasing number of teenage mothers in need, Benter Teenage Mothers’ CBO was officially established in early 2024.

In just six months, we have been contacted by over 150 teenage mothers seeking help. Many need someone to listen to their stories, while others have been rejected by their families and have lost hope. We provide counseling, organize workshops, support education, and help acquire practical skills. We also supply basic needs such as sanitary pads, soap, nutritional porridge, and healthcare for their children. Although our resources are limited, we find fulfillment in creating a safe space for these mothers to share their stories and rebuild trust.
