The School Retention & Re-Entry Initiative is an ongoing program that ensures teenage mothers and vulnerable girls stay in school—or return after interruption—so they can complete their education and build brighter futures.
Many girls drop out due to pregnancy, poverty, stigma, or lack of support. This initiative removes those barriers and walks with each girl from struggle to success.
What the Project Does
-
Advocates for girls to be re-admitted into school after childbirth
-
Ensures schools understand and comply with national re-entry policies
-
Offers guidance, counseling, and follow-up visits to track progress
-
Supports girls facing financial hardship, lack of childcare, or social discrimination
-
Engages parents, guardians, teachers, and community leaders to create a safe and welcoming environment
Core Component: Re-Admission Support
Purpose:
To ensure every school-age mother has the right and opportunity to return to learning without shame, rejection, or punishment.
We work with:
-
School administrations to enforce student-friendly policies
-
Parents and caregivers to build a supportive home environment
-
Local networks and authorities to break stigma and promote acceptance
